Class meets every Friday for

7 weeks

February 13th, 20th, and 27th

March 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th

​

Classes include focused training in dance technique, vocals, and overall stage presence to help students feel confident and prepared for show choir auditions. Dancers will work on learning and picking up choreography quickly, blending strong movement with expressive performance, and presenting themselves as confident performers. Vocal work will focus on general performance skills appropriate for show choir. Audition tips and tricks, along with a mock audition experience, will help students walk into auditions feeling prepared, confident, and ready to shine!

Brianna De Moss

​

She is a proud assistant director of Johnston Innovation. She’s had the pleasure of choreographing for multiple ensembles in the metro over the past 11 years including Johnston’s summer show choir camps and 15+ groups in the metro. When she’s not singing and dancing, you can find her at Johnston Summit Middle School as a school counselor. Her goal is to always leave students feeling equipped and confident to tackle life’s challenges!

Emily Roeder

 

Emily Roeder serves as the Education Program Coordinator at Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation, where she develops standards-based curriculum focused on history and art and fosters community partnerships to support programming. She has been a part of the show choir world since 2011 with experiences servicing as a dance captain, choreographer, and director for show choirs in the Quad Cities and in the Des Moines metro. She earned her Undergrad in Music Education from Drake University in 2019 and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Drake University in 2024.

Jaz Rixner

Jay Rixner is a Los Angeles–trained show choir choreographer and performer who has worked with multiple middle and high school programs across Iowa. He specializes in audition preparation, performance quality, and musicality, helping performers present themselves with clarity, confidence, and intention.

Lexi Peterson

​

Lexi Peterson is a trained dancer and performer who has worked with multiple show choirs across the state of Iowa. She is also continuing her dance training by taking dance courses at the University of Iowa. She specializes in the dance, performance, and audition preparation aspects of show choir tryouts, helping performers feel confident for auditions.

Zaida Wetzel

 

​Zaida Wetzel is a trained dancer and musician with seven years of experience in the show choir world. She spent the past two seasons performing with Waukee Northwest’s EOS and Northwest Singers and continues to serve as an assistant director for Waukee Northwest’s Polaris. Zaida is passionate about helping students build confidence in singing, dancing, performing, and auditioning.
