Dance Vision located in Johnston, Iowa, was founded in 2003 with the purpose of providing professional dance training for students of all ages and abilities in the Des Moines metro area.

Our Staff

Sabetha Mumm has been dancing for over 30 years. She has been choreographing and teaching for over 20 years. Her training includes 6 years at the Institute of Performing Arts in Topeka, KS, 5 years at the University of Iowa and a summer program on scholarship at the Joffery Ballet School in NYC. Her major performances include the 1992 World Jazz Dance Congress, the 1996 American College Dance Festival and 14 University of Iowa galas and concerts.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors as a dance major at the University of Iowa, Sabetha moved to Des Moines. Since moving here she has been a “fliteline” dancer for the Iowa Barnstormers, choreographed for the Miss Teen of America Pageant system, coached the Iowa Gymnastics Training Center’s exhibition Team, and taught and choreographed for dance studios, high school show choirs, high school pom and dance teams and fitness pageant contestants.
In 2003 she followed her heart and took the big step of opening Dance Vision the dance studio. With both a competition studio and concert dance background Sabetha loves to give all her students training to be successful at both. Sabetha’s choreography continues to be awarded by some of the top competitions and dance professionals in the world. It is her unique and energetic style of choreography and her ability to train amazing technically proficient dancers that keep her classes full! Sabetha says, “the only dreams impossible to reach are the ones that you never pursue.”

After Alissa graduated as a student from Dance Vision, she went to attend Point Park University. There she earned her BA in Dance with a concentration in Jazz. While at Point Park she performed in shows such as Balanchine's "Serenade" and worked with choreographers Emery LeCrone, Peter LeBreton Merz, and others. Right after graduation, she began working for Celebrity Cruises. 15 shows and 3 contracts later she has made her way back to Dance Vision!

Jade Clark is an important member of the Dance Vision Family. She is the Studio Director of Dance Vision. If you have a question, Jade can find an answer! Not only is she an important member of the office staff, but she is also head of our Pre and Mini Competition Teams. Teaching at both a recreational and competitive level, Jade enjoys being in the classroom just as much as she does being behind the desk!

As a Dance Vision parent for over 14 years, Holly brings a parent perspective to the office. Holly joined DV in 2018 as a Business Manager, leveraging both her ISU accounting degree and over 10 years experience as a retail business owner.
She is married with 3 children and loves to travel. Her favorite place to be is relaxing on a beach with a great book!

Kristin comes to us as a Competition Director having spent years at the studio as an active dance mom, supporter and enthusiast. Kristin is mom to former Dance Vision dancer and now instructor Ally. Having recently retired from teaching 6th grade at Summit Middle School, she brings her considerable organizational talent to support our competition program. As she appreciated the endless support she had as a dance mom, Kristin is excited to support the dancers and their biggest fans.

Brooke’s love of dance started at a young age. She was a competitive dancer for 15 years throughout her childhood, as well as dancing in The Nutcracker in Ames and for many community events. Her team competed in all styles of dance and attended many regional and national competitions and conventions. After high school, Brooke attended Iowa State University and was a member of the ISU Cheer Squad for two years. She graduated with degrees in Biology and Secondary Education and taught high school science in the metro area and coached the school's cheer squads for 5 years. Brooke is married and has three children, two of which are members of the Dance Vision competition team. She is very excited to be dancing again and teaching at Dance Vision and looks forward to working with dancers of all ages.

Nicole Campbell is a busy mother of four who cannot stop dancing. She has danced through school and was a member of the Iowa State University Pom Squad. With her only daughter taking class at Dance Vision, Nicole reached out about getting involved. Teaching ages 5-8 Nicole looks forward to her time at Dance Vision as a teacher and an office staff member.

Jess Tracey started dancing at the age of 3 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She studied classical ballet at K’dance studios until she graduated HS. She was also a cheerleader, liturgical dancer, and performed in several musicals. She continued her dancing during her freshman year of college at Winona State University with a dance scholarship. She taught classical ballet at a studio in the DSM area from 2010-2012. She is also a busy mom of three, one of which is on the Dance Vision Competition Team. She is excited to be back teaching and loves being an office staff member at Dance Vision!

Ally Tack is from Johnston and began dancing at an early age. She is a Dance Vision alumna who continued her dance career as a member of the Iowa State University Dance Team. After college she decided to continue her dance career further as a teacher at Dance Vision. Ally is also a certified Pure Barre instructor. She is excited to be teaching a variety of technique classes!

Ashley teaches a variety of ages and styles at both recreational and competitive levels loves them all! She participated in studio dance, high school dance team, and collegiate dance team. Working full time as a manager at Mark’s Dancewear and teaching at Dance Vision in the evenings, it is safe to say Ashley loves dance. With her positive energy and creative ideas, she looks forward to another great year!

With a lifelong passion for dance, Bethany began training at the age of 2 and has experience in all styles. She served as the director of a Just For Kix studio for a year before joining a studio in Pella, where she taught all genres for 13 years. Her favorite styles to teach are ballet and tap.
She is also a preschool teacher in Pella and a dedicated dance mom to her two daughters, who both compete with DV.

Cameron Miller is a Kansas City native, and is currently a Company Artist with Ballet Des Moines. Cameron started his ballet training at the age of ten, at Classical Ballet School in Kansas City, Northland. He then moved to the Kansas City Ballet School in 2008, where he continued his training until he graduated high school in 2014. Additionally, he performed with the Kansas City Youth Ballet Company, where he performed various roles such as Swan Lake Pas De Trois, Les Sylphides, Nutcracker, Prince Désiré in Sleeping Beauty, Napoli, Cinderella, Don Quixote, Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake and various works from guest choreographers.
After his high school graduation, Cameron went on to pursue his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography with a dual emphasis in both ballet and modern dance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. There he was under the close direction of Paula Weber and David Justin, as well as Gary Abbott, Mary Pat Henry, Deeanna Hiett and Sabrina Madison-Cannon. He performed countless of their original works as well as works created by George Balanchine, Gregory Dawson, Winston Brown, and Philip Jerry. He has also had the opportunity to perform Sylvia Pas de Deux, White Swan Pas de Deux, as well as a contemporary pas de deux which was selected to be performed at an international choreographers showcase held in various cities spread across Guatemala, The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, and ArtsKC.
After receiving his BFA in 2018, Cameron accepted a contract for American Midwest Ballet (formerly Ballet Nebraska) in Omaha, Nebraska. There he was selected to perform both Principal and Soloist roles from renowned choreographers. Highlights include Frank Chaves pas de deux At Last and Habaneras: The Music of Cuba, Harrison McEldowney’s Group Therapy and Mariana Oliveira’s Death and a Maiden, Ann Reinking’s In the Style of Bob Fosse, and multiple works by Erika Overturff.
Cameron is currently in his third season with Ballet Des Moines. He has performed numerous roles in both classical and contemporary repertoire. Highlights include Prince Siegfried in the Black Swan Pas de Deux, Snow King, Chinese, and Arabien in Tom Mattingly’s The Nutcracker, Tom Mattingly's Flight, Tom Mattingly’s Of Gravity and Light, Stephanie Marteniz’s Kiss in collaboration with PARA.MAR Dance Theater, Ma Cong’s Information, and multiple works by Serkan Usta. He has also choreographed multiple works for the Kansas City Youth Ballet and YAGP.
Cameron intends to resume his education by pursuing his Masters of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Pedagogy and Choreography after his professional career. Afterwards, he aspires to teach and choreograph at a university level.

Growing up in the Air Force, Miss Erika had the opportunity to train at many dance studios across the country, starting at age 5. Her journey into choreography began at 14 when she started assisting her competitive dance company in Eagle River, Alaska. In her sophomore year of high school, she moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she danced with one of the top-ranked competitive dance companies in the Midwest. She began her teaching career by teaching at her local recreation center, choreographing for her high school's show choir and choreographing two award winning musical productions.
Erika has since held positions as a ballet director and competition team director at multiple studios, earning several choreography awards, including a nomination for the Star Dance Alliance Choreography of the Year.
Above all, Erika's passion lies in teaching, choreography, and helping students reach their full potential.

Destani was born and raised in Des Moines Iowa where she received her diplomas from Roosevelt High school and then Drake University. With a degree in psychology, she works as a Behavioral Interventionist at the Polk County Detention center as well as the local shelters in the area.
When she’s not working alongside the youth of this generation, she is striving to accomplish her own dreams. Destani has been training and studying in multiple styles of dance and in multiple areas of entertainment to work as a professional entertainer. She’s been a student of Hip Hop for 12 years, attending multiple conventions, intensives and workshops. Destani is an Assistant Director of Rebel City, a company dedicated to cultivating and bridging the gap of training and opportunity here in the midwest through multiple styles of dance but with a specialization in Hip Hop. Destani is thankful and excited to continue and contribute to the quality and prestigiousness of dance vision and its students.

Ebony grew up training in many genres of dance as well as gymnastics. She competed at both the regional and national level winning numerous high point awards over the years. In college, Ebony was a member of the Iowa State University Dance Team and coached gymnastics at Cardinal Gymnastics Academy. She now has two young children, and her daughter is on Dance Vision’s competition team. Ebony is ecstatic to share her passion and love for dance with the students at Dance Vision!

Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Ellie trained at the acclaimed Odasz Dance Theater. Throughout her early career, she earned top awards at national competitions, including YAGP and ADC|IBC, and had the honor of performing at the prestigious Nervi Festival in Genova, Italy. As a professional dancer, Ellie has performed with Texas Ballet Theater, Ballet Austin, and now Ballet Des Moines. With a deep passion for the art form, she believes that nothing replaces dedication and hard work in the pursuit of excellence.

Evelyn Beard grew up in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. She began dancing at age 3 with Morgantown Dance where she was introduced to ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Her early dance education was supplemented with workshops through the West Virginia Dance Festival where she was inspired by fellow West Virginian artists. At age 16, Evelyn accepted a traineeship with BalletMet in Columbus, Ohio where she completed her high school education online while training and performing full-time.
Upon her high school graduation, Evelyn chose to pursue her BFA in Classical Ballet with a minor in Arts Entrepreneurship at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. While training at UNCSA, she performed a variety of classical ballets and original contemporary dance works including the roles of Russian demi-soloist in George Balanchine's Serenade, the Snow Queen in Ilya Kozadayev's The Nutcracker, and a soloist in EMOTE, an original contemporary piece by Abdur-Rahim Jackson. In summer of 2024, UNCSA and the Kenan Institute for the Arts provided Evelyn the opportunity to study abroad in Budapest, Hungary at the Hungarian Dance University.
Alongside her dance education, Evelyn served as a class representative for the UNCSA School of Dance and is passionate about being an empowering mentor to younger dancers. Evelyn is a certified Pilates teacher, and she teaches ballet to students of all ages. Having recently moved to Iowa to dance with Ballet Des Moines, Evelyn is thrilled to be joining the Dance Vision community as a teacher.

Jessica started dancing as a teenager in Utah and fell in love. When she went to college she thought she was finished dancing but found it was an integral part of her life and couldn't give it up so she took classes at the University of Utah while studying Health & Emergency Medical Services and started teaching at a studio. Over the years she's had the opportunity to be assistant choreographer for a couple seasons of a production of The Nutcracker, she was also assistant choreographer for a Broadway Review and did all of the Newsies choreography. She was assistant director to a dance troupe that specialized in raising funds for charitable organizations and was a company member for a professional performing company in Salt Lake City. She's taught dance for over a decade and especially loves to teach and choreograph Jazz to teenagers and adults. There is such a huge value in teaching people that they are capable of hard things even if they don't find their passion at the "right" time. She's so excited to teach in Iowa at Dance Vision!

While Jordan Willis started his dance career later than others at the age of 16, he did not let that hold him back. He joined the Roosevelt High School Dance Team. During that time the team won multiple state titles for consecutive years. Upon graduation he moved to Los Angeles where he was featured in Glee, Shake It Up, and No Ordinary Family. Jordan has enjoyed exploring the art of choreography while teaching at Dance Vision.

Layla Sutterer has grown up dancing since the age of 2. She has trained in various styles such as jazz, contemporary, hip hop, jazz funk, tap, ballet, lyrical, and more. In addition, Layla traveled all over the country to further her education at many different dance conventions. She graduated from Dance Vision in 2024 and continued her professional dance training at the CLI Conservatory; a prestigious 10 month program created by Teddy Forance. She is also a member of Hollywood Vibe’s Pro Elite Company, where she travels to assist working professionals in the dance industry. Layla’s future plans are to move to Los Angeles and pursue a professional career in commercial dance. Currently, she enjoys spending her time at the studio, teaching, and being home with her family!

Leslie is one of those people who hears rhythms in everything and breaks into Broadway songs in the middle of conversations! She has studied and taught dance her whole adult life. She is certified by test to teach ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics and clogging through Dance Masters of America, Chicago Nat'l Assoc of Dance Masters, DMA's Teachers Training School and National C.L.O.G. Leslie's love of teaching included 42 years of dance studio ownership in Creston, Greenfield, Osceola and Mt Ayr. For several decades she was an officer, national convention representative, and new teacher examiner for Dance Masters Iowa chapters. Now she holds workshops, offers private coaching, and teaches independently at other studios. Leslie and her husband, Ned, live in Creston, Iowa, where she is a substitute school teacher and owns The Emporium marketplace.

Lindsay enjoys multiple dance styles and the unique parts of each one, but this year you will find her teaching tumbling. She grew up in Bondurant and started dancing at three years old. Tumbling has been a big part of her life since her first class when she was 6—both taking classes and teaching. She has competed at high school and collegiate levels and appreciates the different lessons she learned while competing with a studio in high school and with her team in college. Whether it was dancing with peers, learning from instructors, being a dance team captain, or teaching, dance has always brought good challenges and a great community. After graduating college, she knew she wanted to stay involved with dance and was able to do that by joining Dance Vision. She loves motivating and cheering on her students and giving them a place to experience growth.

Lyndsey is originally from the Omaha/Council Bluffs area and has always had a passion for dance, starting in local studios at a young age. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in dance, she was a proud member of the Orchesis Dance Company. Upon completing her degree, she returned to Council Bluffs, where she spent five years as an assistant dance team coach and dance instructor at a local studio.
After marriage, she relocated to the Des Moines area, where she now works as a 2nd grade teacher and dance team coach for Perry High School. In addition, she is a part of the team at Mark’s Dancewear. Outside of work, she is a proud mother of two daughters, both of whom are active members of the competition dance team.

Maggie Weber brings a lifelong love of dance and a deep passion for teaching to Dance Vision. With 15 years of training in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical, along with seven years of pointe experience, Maggie grew up dancing in a small-town studio in Earlham, IA and performed on the West Central Valley drill team for four years. She continued to share her choreography with the drill team during college, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Northwest Missouri State University.
After spending three years teaching preschool in South Korea, Maggie returned to Iowa to pursue her Masters of Science in Education at Drake University. She has spent the past 10 years teaching in the Des Moines area, including four years in 5th grade and six years (and counting) in 2nd grade.
Maggie is thrilled to bring together her background in dance and education to inspire and nurture a love of movement in her students at Dance Vision.

Marah Schmitz is from Johnston, IA, and attended Dance Vision as a student from 2006-2019. She was a part of Dance Vision's competition team and trained in Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Ballet. After graduating high school, she attended the University of Northern Iowa, where she studied Interior Design. After recently graduating, she moved back to the Des Moines area, found a wonderful full-time design job, and is now thrilled to be back at Dance Vision as an instructor.

Mayson Sutton is a passionate dancer who graduated from Dance Vision in 2024, after dedicating six years of intensive training at the prestigious studio. Beginning dance at the age of six, Mayson quickly developed a deep love for the art form. A proud graduate of the CLI Conservatory Program, Mayson is now preparing to take the next step toward a professional career in dance. Dance is not just a passion—it is Mayson's life, and there is nothing else she would rather pursue.

Megan has been a part of Dance Vision since it opened! After dancing competitively, Megan attended Oklahoma City University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Dance Performance. She continued her training in the Professional Semester at New York’s Broadway Dance Center and also trained with The Radio City Rockettes.
Megan’s professional career spans 10 years. Megan was seen as a featured tap dancer in Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Broadway’s 42nd Street National Tour, and Elf the Musical National Tour. Megan performed in dozens of Regional Theatre where she performed in the ensemble, featured roles, and understudied and performed leading roles. Some of her favorites are Crazy For You, Holiday Inn, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Cinderella, Singin in the Rain, 42nd Street, Oklahoma!, and The Will Rogers Follies. Megan lived, worked, and trained in New York City for many years, where she also taught dance and adjudicated for dance competitions.
Megan is very passionate about dance and helping the next generation of dancers grow as dancers and people. She is so happy to be back at her home away from, to share her passion and knowledge with the dancers of Dance Vision!

Miranda Oldenburger is excited to return to Dance Vision as a ballet instructor, having previously taught with the studio during the 2019–2021 seasons. A proud Dance Vision alum, she trained and competed with the studio’s competition team throughout her high school years and is thrilled to be back where her passion for Dance was nurtured and shaped.
Her dance journey began at age 3 and has taken her through years of intensive training, performance, and teaching. By age 10, she was assisting in classes, and by 17, she was substitute teaching at a variety of studios in the area. In 2019, she stepped into a formal instructor role at Dance Vision, where she began teaching ballet and sharing her love for classical technique with young dancers.
She has received extensive training in ballet, pointe, contemporary, lyrical, modern, jazz, tap, heels, and musical theater, studying under renowned instructors such as Maia Wilkins and Michael Levine (Joffrey Ballet), Rolando Yanes (Milwaukee Ballet), Peter Pawlyshyn (Kansas City Ballet), Alfonso Martin (Tulsa Ballet), and many others. She also trained with the Rockettes during the summers of 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 in New York City.
Throughout her career, she has also explored and performed in other styles including Character, Flamenco, Afro-Cuban, and Disco, broadening her versatility and stage experience.
Her performance background includes classical ballets such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, La Sylphide, Don Quixote, Firebird, and Little Match Girl, with appearances through companies including Iowa Dance Theatre, Milwaukee Ballet, Montgomery Ballet, and as part of the NYC Rockettes summer ensemble.
Today, she remains active in the performing arts by continuing to train in adult dance classes including salsa, bachata, and heels. She looks forward to returning to Dance Vision to sharing her passion, experience, and love of ballet with the next generation of dancers.

Scott Gulbranson was born and raised in Des Moines, IA and started dancing when he was 9 years old. When he was 15, he decided to further his training by attending many conventions, such as JUMP, Nuvo, and Hollywood Vibe. In 2013, he was awarded an assistant position with Artists Simply Human, where he assisted top choreographers, such as Tovaris Wilson, Lisette Bustamante, and Desmond Richardson.
After he graduating high school, Scott moved to Los Angeles to attend AMDA, a performing arts college. He graduated in 2016 and set off for the real world. After graduation, he signed with Movement Talent Agency and has worked with Paula Abdul, Kanye West, Billie Eilish, Jennifer Lopez, and Leona Lewis. He also was a part of Embodiment, which was featured on Season 2 of NBC’s World of Dance.

Tori has a passion for dance! She grew up dancing at Melinda's School of dance in Dakota City, Iowa where she took an assortment of dance classes over the years and danced competitively through high school. She was a part of the Humboldt High School Dance Team and competed in solo and team events. Tori fell in love with teaching dance while being a class assistant throughout high school and became a teacher at Melinda's. She taught there for 6 years before taking a few years off to participate in the Disney College Program and to complete her MBA at Northwest Missouri State University. She graduated in December 2021. Tori recently moved to the Des Moines metro area and wanted to reignite her passion for teaching dance. Tori is excited to be part of the DV Fam!

Her training includes 6 years at the Institute of Performing Arts in Topeka, KS, 5 years at the University of Iowa and a summer program on scholarship at the Joffery Ballet School in NYC. Her major performances include the 1992 World Jazz Dance Congress, the 1996 American College Dance Festival and 14 University of Iowa galas and concerts.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors as a dance major at the University of Iowa, Sabetha moved to Des Moines. Since moving here she has been a “fliteline” dancer for the Iowa Barnstormers, choreographed for the Miss Teen of America Pageant system, coached the Iowa Gymnastics Training Center’s exhibition Team, and taught and choreographed for dance studios, high school show choirs, high school pom and dance teams and fitness pageant contestants.
In 2003 she followed her heart and took the big step of opening Dance Vision the dance studio. With both a competition studio and concert dance background Sabetha loves to give all her students training to be successful at both. Sabetha’s choreography continues to be awarded by some of the top competitions and dance professionals in the world. It is her unique and energetic style of choreography and her ability to train amazing technically proficient dancers that keep her classes full! Sabetha says, “the only dreams impossible to reach are the ones that you never pursue.”

After Alissa graduated as a student from Dance Vision, she went to attend Point Park University. There she earned her BA in Dance with a concentration in Jazz. While at Point Park she performed in shows such as Balanchine's "Serenade" and worked with choreographers Emery LeCrone, Peter LeBreton Merz, and others. Right after graduation, she began working for Celebrity Cruises. 15 shows and 3 contracts later she has made her way back to Dance Vision!

Kristin comes to us as a Competition Director having spent years at the studio as an active dance mom, supporter and enthusiast. Kristin is mom to former Dance Vision dancer and now instructor Ally. Having recently retired from teaching 6th grade at Summit Middle School, she brings her considerable organizational talent to support our competition program. As she appreciated the endless support she had as a dance mom, Kristin is excited to support the dancers and their biggest fans.

Jess Tracey started dancing at the age of 3 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She studied classical ballet at K’dance studios until she graduated HS. She was also a cheerleader, liturgical dancer, and performed in several musicals. She continued her dancing during her freshman year of college at Winona State University with a dance scholarship. She taught classical ballet at a studio in the DSM area from 2010-2012. She is also a busy mom of three, one of which is on the Dance Vision Competition Team. She is excited to be back teaching and loves being an office staff member at Dance Vision!
