Dance Studio Instructor
Jamie has been dancing for her entire life. By growing up in her mother’s and aunt’s dance and gymnastics studio in Denison, Iowa she was destined to be a performer. She grew up competing in both by the age of four. Jamie also attended conventions and won many national dance competitions throughout her competing years. In 1999, when she was 17, her twin brother and she were the Grand Champions of the Bill Riley Talent Search for their tap duet performance.
After high school, Jamie attended Iowa State University and studied English Education. While there, she danced for the Des Moines Dragons Dance Team “The Flames”. She also danced at ISU. In her free time, Jamie continued to go back home and help choreograph and teach classes at Sherri and Julie’s Dance and Gymnastics on the weekends.
When she finished college, Jamie decided to join forces with her mother and aunt at the dance studio where she grew up. She began teaching full time and eventually helped build Harlan Dance and Tumbling where she was the head teacher for eight years. During that time, she attended conventions yearly to stay current on the dance trends and continue her education. Jamie led her students to many top honors, outstanding achievements, and titles at the regional and national level.
Even with her busy teaching schedule she met her husband, had two children, and eventually decided she wanted to spend more time with her family raising her own children. A career move for her husband brought them to West Des Moines. Jamie knew Sabetha from the dance world and was confident Dance Vision was the right choice for her daughter. Now, both her son and daughter attend
classes at Dance Vision.
Jamie feels very privileged to have the opportunity to work for Dance Vision because it sets her soul on
fire to teach children, see them grow and learn, and encourage them to feel successful in their efforts.
